This week in New Canaan: costumes, tours & a night at the Library

Seven plans for October 22–28

Hello New Canaan,

Get the costumes ready: the Halloween Block Party takes over Elm Street on Sunday, with trick-or-treating, live music and a street closed to cars. Before then, there are late-afternoon Glass House tours and a chance to hear NPR’s Steve Inskeep at the Library.

Here’s what’s coming up, with the times, locations and booking details in one place.

Thursday, October 22

The Glass House in the evening light

Thursday, October 22 · tours at 4:30 or 5 p.m.
Departs from the Glass House Visitor Center + Design Store
199 Elm Street, New Canaan

Take a two-hour guided tour of The Glass House and its grounds as the daylight changes. The route includes a three-quarter-mile walk over paved, grass and gravel paths, so choose footwear for walking. Tickets are $95 and must be booked ahead. Children must be at least 8 and accompanied by an adult. The shuttle leaves from Elm Street; go there rather than driving to the house.
